Future transmission problems?

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, so i will cut to the chase, I just bought a 2001 Toyota Echo with about 55000 miles on it, and it runs smooth as a baby's but. My only problem with it is when i come to a stop it starts vibrating like crazy almost as if its the hood making all the noise, but when i put it in park or neutral it stops. Any ideas what this might be? I'm pretty nervous since i just bought it, and the noise is driving me crazy?! I guess i can post this in another thread, but any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mine did this after I got rear ended and the person hit my muffler. That took out my motor mounts and exhaust mounts. I never checked my idle rpm but it happened right after that and fixing those fixed the problem. Not sure how to adjust idle on this car anyway. I figure you just keep it free from intake leaks, etc and it will adjust iteself?

Do you know how much that would cost to replace the mounts?

There are many things that could cause this, anything from rough idle caused by dirty MAF to bad plugs, motor mounts could also be suspect. There are a few threads dedicated to this problem that you could search for.
It is normal for for a bit of vibration however.

Well i'm happy to say my problem is solved. I took it back to the dealer where i bought it from and he solved the problem within 5 sec. He used to own an echo and apparently this is a common problem, it was the rubber hood mounts. So he twisted them so that they were nice and flush with the hood and now no more rattling.
