Changed Clutch , Now weird "toc" sound
Toyota echo 2004 115 000 km , hatchback 2 doors, good shape, no rust
Bought used in 2009 at 60 000km
A month ago, I notice clutch slip if demanding significant amount of power for acceleration. I’ve remove the transmission to change the clutch, I was a long and complex task , but not that difficult. I must admit I don’t really understand why my clutch was done at only 115000km but now, it’s done.
I’ve remove and put back the battery. air intake parts, miscellaneous wires holders, shifter wires, breaks, manifold heat shields, right and left drive shaft, starter, radiator and radiator braket, clutch release cylinder, motor/trans left side mounting braket , back side motor mounting braket, secure the motor up whit strap and 2x4, removed the suspension member, transmission , and clutch. I didn’t remove the direction completely, but I did un-bolted it from the suspension member and I let it hang while removing the transmission and the clutch.
I’ve install a new clutch disk, clutch cover and release bearing, and put back everything together.
Clutch is working fine, but now, I’m stock whit a weird noise time to time. There is a loud “TOC” when I ask some power driving forward, and another if I break on compression or if I stop and go backward.
Trying to go up a slope , whit hand brake applied, I can reproduce the “TOC” sound on demand each time I try to go up the slope and ask power from the motor.
I’ve try to locate the source of the sound using a mechanic stethoscope. No sound TOC coming from the motor/transmission/clutch/clutch cylinder/ left mounting braket, but sound is strong on the rear motor mounting braket and on the suspension member
Yesterday , I’ve completely removed the suspension member, inspected the rear engine holder, and tight back every thing around this,
No success
Week of dirty mecanic later, I'm tired of all of this !
Any idea ?
