Love this car

Just got back from an 850 mile trip in the wife's '10 sedan. Mostly highway driving running with the cruise set between 68-70 mph with the a/c on the entire trip. 2 adults, 2 children and a trunk full of luggage plus an hour stuck in traffic on the way back and still managed a 39 mpg average!! We actually managed over 40 mpg the first 400 miles!!

The kids were happy the whole way and I can recite the most of the lines from "Toy Story" and "Cars".

^^That's awesome! Glad you guys had a good trip. Weather helps a lot with the FE. Of course long highway driving when traveling helps. I love traveling and I love driving. I took a trip last year and loved it! I wish I had the money to travel further and like you I have a FE car so that's nice.

Thanks.

I've read so much about hyper-milers averaging over 50 MPG in the Yaris. I believe it too. That 39 MPG average for the trip was with us not really trying. A little more effort could've yielded even better results. But if I can drive it like a regular car and still get nearly 40....that's good enough for me.

I took a 950 mile trip back in May in mine (the liftback). I ran 75+ MPH, with the a/c on and have a heavier set of wheels and tires than the wife's car and I still managed 37 MPG.

I've hit 50mpg before. The first time it was summer and my tires were almost baled. Last year when I took my mini trip as I mentioned on the way back I hit 50mpg and I was going 64-75. I think cause the speed is consistent and its a long journey. Keeping the speed consistent is key. Of course the summer weather helps.

That's good stuff Bill.

I love this little car too.

I've hit the 50 mark a few times this summer already. I sooo love this hot weather.
