Echo Thermostat

Howdy:

I have a 2005 Echo and the alternator just gave up the ghost.

I have removed tyhe old alternator and just below the alternator I can see a plastic housing with the lower radiator hose going to it. Is this the location of the thermostat.

While I have you can you give me instructions as to how to adjust the timing chain?

No problems with either just thought while I have the alternator out I could do some minor maintenance.

Probably way too late but the t'stat and timing belt are both highly reliable, ... I'd swap out the alternator and call it done, ...

I did just as you have suggested. If it aint broke don't fix it. It all started last Sunday on the way home. The battery light came on. I managed to make it home and I shut off the car and tried to restart and nothing happened. I thought it was the battery. I bought a new one and everything seemed fine. We drive about one hour to work every day. On the way home the battery light came on again and part way home the car stopped. We pushed it to a garage with the help of two guys who appeared from no where and one of them lived in the same town as we do and he gave us a ride all the way home. We took our other vehicle to work the next day and I ordered a rebuilt alternator. Put it on and all is well again. This little machine has been simply awesome to drive, this is the first problem we have had. We bought the car with 38000 klicks and now we have 100000 klicks. I runs like a dream.
