USA Vapors leaking into cabin - 2001 Echo

A couple of weeks ago, I smelled gasoline vapors in the cabin of my '01 Echo. The check engine light had come on a couple of days earlier. I checked under the hood and found a hose leading from what I think is the purge control valve had come loose. So I reattached it, and it was fine for awhile. I had the car scanned to see what brought the CE light on, and a number of codes came up - one for the rear O2 sensor, and a few EVAP codes that I can't remember.

A few days after I reattached the hose, something else started leaking into the cabin. It wasn't gasoline, but I was starting to feel light headed while driving. Figuring that couldn't be good, I had it looked at again by a friend of mine. He isn't sure, but he thinks it might have something to do with the charcoal cannister. He also suggested getting a new gas tank cap, so I did. There was no leakage for a day, and then one more time, something else I couldn't determine started seeping through. More light headedness, etc.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on, or am I in a suicide machine?

Thanks!

Getting light headed is not good. It could be carbon monoxide. Check your exhaust system and make sure it is in good repair. You may get a CO detector and check for the gas. It is odorless but exhaust fumes are not. CO is insidious and not to be taken lightly. Just a thought.
