Daughter's 2007 man. trans Yaris won't start

Engine 1.5L....I think with 80tKm . Car started very well yesterday. This morning it wouldn't start but it was cranking over. She came back home after work and boosted the car with a friend and car is now running. She called Toyota and the lady that answered told here that her car's battery is between 5-6 years old and probably needs a new battery. And she also called dad (me). And I told her to wait a minute...yes your battery is old but your car was turning over while it wouldn't start, so more than likely your problem isn't your battery but eventually your battery will need to be changed anyways...it's old. I also told her that I would be checking with an internet site to get some help.

I have made a search of this problem with no great results for the car year and type of problem. Has anyone seen this before. And not sure if this wouldn't be a relay problem. You're guidance would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Mike

the odd thing is that it would start by jump starting it, so giving the fact that the battery is well overdue for replacement, i would start there, possibly it is not cranking fast enough with the old battery meaning that it is pulling so much load from the battery to crank, and that the ignition or injection may be effected by the amp draw/voltage drop of the system while cranking

Did you try yarisworld.com?? They might be able to help you. Best of luck. Very odd situation. Especially on a car not that old.
