can a 5e-fe be replaced with a 5a-fe?

My brother seized the stock engine in my 93 paseo. I was wondering if the 5a-fe is a direct bolt on to my trany? I have a standard auto.

Also... instead of swaping is it even possible to rebuild the seized motor. I moved to AZ and the paseo is still in Califorina where I used to live. I have not had a chance to pull it apart yet so I dont know what seized (bearing, pistons etc.) I USED to enjoy this car and have wanted to mod it but never hade the time/money plus I have my 97 corolla that I have been working on.

Any advice will be greatly welcomed and thank you all in advance.

A Series trannys may be a bit difficult...different axle sizes etc. AE Trannys are almsot always a little custom involved. Try to find an EE series tranny. Some corollas and other toyotas did have them in teh aelier years that will bolt up fine. Gotta research it.
