Apparent EGR Problem

3-E Carb.

A week or two ago i accidentally left the gas cap a little loose and check engine light came on i tightended it and checked the gasket it was fine reset the check engine light and now a week later light comes back on i diagnosed and the code is a 71 and according to the haynes manual its a problem in the egr/ egr temperature sensor and possibly circuit.The info is a little vauge and i am not sure where to start to fix this. Also if its any help its a california model.

Those are such a pain.

Don't know what to tell you except check the temp. sensor and see if it's still working properly.
