I just purchased rims for my '94 Tercel and when someone sits in the back of the car, the wheel hits the car and gets scratched over a bump. I noticed too it is more on the rear right side then on the left side. I put 2 spring spacers on each rear spring and it still hits when 2 people are in the back but not with 1 person. Anyone one know anything to fix this. Coils, Shocks, etc.. I don't know anything about suspension. If there is no cure for this I'm going to have to get my car customized to flare out so it doesn't hit.
you could upgrade your shocks, get kyb gr2's, notably stiffer than stock.
You could roll your fenders. The inner lip of the back fenders, they make a tool for it, but you could roll it up with a baseball bat along the edge. I did mine gheto, with a hammer
.....but those rims are probably just too dam big, what size are they 17"?
Yeah they are 17's. I'll check out the shocks. I'll also look for that tool also. Most likely I'm going to flare out the fenders though, which I really don't want to do.
Oh forgot to ask. Know where I can find KYB GR-2 shocks for a '94 Tercel. I've seen some that are made for certain cars. I was also on ebay looking them up and I seen something that said Rebouind Stop:No, Bump Stop:No. What's that and are there shocks that have Yes for either one.
gr=2's are almost stock...if i were you i would just invest in some stock paseo struts. most toyota dealerships sell them inexpensively.
he reason i stay away from KYB's basline stuff is that they have 600 types of struts for 1200 ,akes and models of cars. whereas moroe has 1200 makes of different types of struts. your probably asking so what if kyb uses the same strut on 2 different types of cars. but remmember that the springs are rated diferently to accompany the different weights of the vehicles.
Thanks very much kene. So I should go to Toyota dealership and ask them for Rear Paseo Struts. Why not Tercel ones. Also will they hold up the back. I need some strong ones. I still think I'm just going to have to flare out the fenders, cause I want to drop it too.
i would trust the toyota more than the gr2's. ive had gr2's and they are nothing big. the problem with your fender i would fix the right way via a better adjustable panhard rod..they are around 100$(from whitleine) and are an upgrade from factory. rolling he fender with the bat is a temp fix. your rear wheels will still be of center from the from wheels. mine are right noe, and i plan to get this product as soon as i get the chance.
