USA had new timing chain= cause of problem

When I had the tune up done on my 91 tercel(auto trans) I also had a water pump and timing chain replaced. As I said in last post, my car is idling weird in reverse and sometimes after driving for awhile, when I go to park, the idle starts going up and down!
Could the timing chain being installed wrong do this or is it more in the tune up area? As you can tell, I do not know that much about it, but i do know it is not supposed to run like that!
If anyone can tell me what they think it may be, that would be really cool!

did this running problem start after the work was done? why did you have the work done? did it run hot before you had the water pump changed?

It's a belt, not a chain btw.

It started after I had the work done. So, what do you think it could be? The pump or the timing belt(I called it a chain, excuse.e.e.e me). I had the work done when I noticed water was leaking out from under my car!

I semi-agree with this, however I'd take it back to the shop and have them find the problem. You paid to have the job done and not connecting everything back is a job not finished. On occasion people have brought cars back to the shop I work at with problems that may or may not be related to work we did. We recheck the car and try to find the problem if the possibility is even remote that it may be our fault. By this I mean if we rebuilt the alternator and now the rear brakes squeal it's no way, but if we rebuilt the alternator and a temp gauge quits, we may have knocked a sensor loose.
Tell us what the shop says. Don't act mad when you go see them. A pleasant customer gets work done way faster than one with an attitude.

I am trying to get my husband to do that. Take it back to where he had it done. He seems to want to take it to someone else( I don't know why, I think he should take it back since it is still under warranty for the parts and work done and it is more than likely something that they missed)But, I will take your advise. I will let you know what it was when I can talk some sense into my old man about where to take it.

If another shop touches our work it voids warranty. Let him know that too.

Shop said it was a vacuum hose. They also said my engine mounts are worn pretty bad. Anyone out there know what that would cost?
