4A-Ge engine swap...

hey there, i have decided to go with a 4A-GE engine from a corrola levin, its the 20valve, 1.6L and has 165HP and 120ftlb....but i have one problem....i heard from people that you can drop this engine in but there are other things that need to be done to it so it fits inplace properly....like wiring and engine mounts and such....so what i ask is that if anyone can tell me if it is at least possible to put this engine in my tercel...current engine: 91 tercel dx ....12 vlave 1.5L 3E-E...swap

You'll need ECU, wiring harness, tranny, engine mounts and some cutting and welding to get it in.

i talked to people and they told me that the 4E-FTE engine swap is a direct simple drop in....stock axels will work fine and everything, but what i was told is that i need a new/diff custom wiring harness!!!....the engine im getting comes with everything....tranny, ecu, and wiring harness for a toyota starlet, does it really matter for what car its from or do i really need a new custom harness?

so... does the engine mount has to be done??
coz i remember my fren told me that he could put a 4a engine into a 85 tercel without doing the mounts, but need a ei fuel pump, and harness(thats few yrs ago cant remember right=.=)

I'm not sure but the '85 might have an "a" series engine which would be easier to put a 4AGE in.

Anyways, there's a guy up in Montreal by the name of Charles, works at CP Performance who is finishing up a 4AGE into Tercel swap right now, do some searching in the Toyota section of www.montrealracing.com/forum/ and you'll find him, he's a pretty nice guy and will likely help you out.

That silvertop Tercel is really nice and a killer deal at $2500 for everything, is there anything wrong with it? Why are you selling it?

Anyways, either way, with any Toyota engine swap, you need custom wiring. I'm doing a Tercel 4EFTE engine swap in the next couple of weeks and after that I'll probably start making custom harnesses for people. If you don't want to wait then talk to Trevor at BYP in Florida, I think his website is www.backyardproductions.com or something like that. It'll cost you a pretty penny though. I'll do it a lot cheaper once I do one myself.

Or, just come up to my shop and I'll do the whole swap for you.

Other than that, the 4EFTE will bolt right in, you just need to do the wiring and figure out what to do with the intercooler (either make a hood scoop or install a FMIC). For a 4AGE, you'll need custom engine mounts and axles, the rest is pretty much the same, and of course no intercooler to worry about.

Hope that helps.
