98 spedometer

well for some odd reason, my spedometer is off by 20 km/h...
i took the cluster off last summer when i was wiring my tach in, and just lately one day its off by twenty.
anyone know how to fix this?

do you have the original wheels and original size tires on the car? if you put aftermarket rims / tires the circumference of the total wheel is different than how it came from the factory, hense causing the speedo to be off. If you have factory sized tires then I don't know what the problem would be that would cause it to be a consistent 20 km/h off. Did you figure this out with one of those police "your speed is XXX" things? If it is off only a little at slow speeds and gradually gets more off the faster you go then you definitely have a wheel ratio problem.

well everything is factory.. wheels and all...
i figured it out, when i started driving down my road, for about 4 seconds and my spedometer was just getting past zero, then to test it out even further i drove down the street with a friend in a car beside me yelling out his speed, and i was 20 off consistently...
maybe the needle is not tight or just needs to be pinned to start at zero..
i donno...???
