Rust issues on Echo

Hey guys, I have a 2000 Echo Sedan and it appears to have some premature rust issues

Seems like my rear fenders are rusting out and the 60 month performation warranty no long applies.

Great car Toyota!

Do you drive the GTA salt bath all winter? How often do you clean it in the winter?

It is very important no matter what kind of car you drive or what kind of warranty you have on the car, that it gets cleaned regularly in the winter. Does the vehicle get parked indoors or out? A very common misconception is that its better to park a car indoors. Although this is true for most seasons, winter is a different story. Unless you hose off ALL of the salt before its parked, having it in a warm place will actully speed up the oxidization process of the salt, which in turn will speed up the process of rust showing up. The warranty that you said you have, isn't all that it seems. If you read closely what it says, you will pobably notice that it only covers HOLES? through the body or floor . Pretty piss poor warranty if you ask my, but I guess thats better than nothing.

I would assume the road salt used on Toronto Roads could be a culprit also a few litttle run in with pilars in condos another. The car was also shipped overseas for a few years before it made it's way back to Canada and landed on my door steps.

This car isn't really mine. I'm just driving it as my beater till spring rolls around

I checked and the car is over 5 years old and all warranty issues are shot. As for the warranty and the issue of "holes" my dad claimed warranty with the rear fenders of our 89 Camry. The guy at the dealer poked a hole thru the fender so we could claim it
