gauges are pretty simple as long as you get the electrical ones.

From my experience....Mechanical gauges are easier to install, and less likely for something to happen to them, as it is a much simpler piece of equipment.

As for the external transmission cooler.....I've never driven auto, but from what I've seen....Most people mount them on the outside(front), of the radiator(behind grill), and it should be quite simple to install. Find the rubber lines coming off the transmission. Remove one of the lines, from both ends(trans./rad)use a piece of hose, and run it from the radto the external cooler, and do the same from the trans.(make sure that the hose that you use will work with oil products, as not all hoses will). Before you run the lines, check the instructions to make sure whether there is a specific way the lines have to flow.

mechanical is good just not if one of those plastic lines breaks and starts leaking all kinds of fluids in your vehicle.

i see , i have always heard that the electrical ones are better but im not sure exactly why, on the cooler i wasn't very clear i have a stick and its the original tranny and i figured it would help prolong its life with a cooler but off the top of my head i dont remember seeing lines coming out of it .
