I hate to be the bearer of bad news. The word is that there is soon to be an announced recall from Toyota regarding the floor of echo's in North America. No details on which models. Toyota will provide a vehicle for all affected vehicles. The recall is due to early corrosion caused by a supplier trying to save $ and not providing one of the agreed protective coating.
I hope it's the sedan and not the Hatchback. I doubt it's the hatchback though, seeing how it's already been around for around 4 to 5 years, any defects will be dealt with by now.
A little update: I got the letter for such an incident, but it ain't a recall. The whole process would take anywhere between 3 to 8 hours, but to no cost to the owners. Either way, my car is leased, so I got no choice but to do it. It's for the better anyway.
Jeez, I didn't get any recall notice for this. I received one concerning rust for something about the brakes from what I remember, and it only affected the 2000 model year.
It's not a full recall. Letters were sent to registered owners. I still have to call them about taking mine in, but it's not a safety thing for me so I'm waiting for a more convenient time.

you should bring it in asap. rust creeps up and slowly eats away at the metal. sometimes it's difficult to spot.
Toyota's problem if there's any rust now, not mine. I'm keeping the letter tucked away in case it does start to come through. Any reduced value due to rust that was to be protected but required retouching under 505 will result in a lawyers letter.
its just a precaution i work at a toy dealership h/b are affected they take your entire interior out then apply a coating on the floor pans then put everything back in unless you already have rust then then they grind out the rust put a lacquer on then apply the other coating it usely takes me 2 hours to do it.

I had my 2005 4/dr Sedan Dura-Shielded before I even had the perm plates put on 3 weeks ago. I picked a dry day and drove it one block and had it coated. The day I was supposed to swap plates and pick it up was going to be rainy.

Does that mean when I find the time to bring the car in for that recall, I'll literally have to take all my belongings out of the car before delivering the car to the dealership for the coating procedure? Do I also have to clean and vacuum the interior beforehand or they don't mind that (or will take care of it for us )?
