changing manual transmission fluid

Dear All,
I have a 2001 Echo with 34k on the clock. I wondered what you recommend re changing the fluids etc. The handbook does not make it clear , only suggesting that certain fluids are changed if driving in extreme conditions which I don't.

Although they may call for fluid to NOT be serviced or replaced unless driving in "SEVERE" conditions, it is always a good idea to change them anyways(2yrs or 30m/48km is always a safe bet).
A famous mechanics saying is "Pay me now, or pay me later". I garantee that if you pay them later it will be a lot more, than paying them now. Preventative maintenance is key to extending the life of your car to its fullest. And whats a few extra dollars to most of us?
