Manual Transmission - no change in RPMs

Hello,

Hope someone can help with this.

I have a 5-speed '02 Echo that revs high in 4th and 5th gear.

In fact there does not seem to be any noticeable difference in the revs when shifting between the 3 gears (I don't have a tachometer).

The car is almost 3 years old with 178,000 kms.

Does this suggest any kind of problem?

Hard for him to do, as the 02's don't have a tach. He would just be guessing, unless he recorded the sound, then we'd be guessing.

Wind it out to rev limit in each gear and note the speed...well, wind out third. The other 2 get you into deep trouble, and will take you a half an hour or so .
