Tachometer for Echo?

Hi, I'm new here. I have a stock 2002 Echo with manual transmission. I love this car and feel quite smug every time I pass the gas pump. However, the car is begging for a tachometer. Does anyone make an aftermarket tach that is practical and presentable with the dash layout? Thanks.

TuRD has some CF POS that goes where a normal cluster would. Looks like ass IMO, but some may find it appealing. Any tach capable of DIS use will do if you can find a mount.

Talking Tach in Echo.

I just put one in today. Almost any tach will work. I got a sunpro from autozone, white face. The small one is $30 the larger one is about $45. I did some research and found out how to install without cutting into the wiring harness. you can mount it almost anywhere. I put mine on the steering column behind the steering wheel where you normaly have guages. it looks good in the car.

Echo Tach install

Hey there. install is a snap. Sunpro, four wires. Black ground to good metal surface. I found a bolt on a metal bar that runs along the bottom of the dash, easy to get to, 10mm wrench. Red wire goes to fuse box in dash. Connect wire to ACC fuse, left side of fuse, this is important so that fuse will protect your car. Green wire goes to your OBDII scan plug under dash, this is a white computer like plug set up for 16 pin connection. Plug green wire into the first pin on the bottom row. White wire for lights. I found a wire behind my radio that was designated for lights and not being used. I have an aftermarket radio and it didnt require a connection for lights. I simply connected the white wire there and it works. if you don't want to go searching for a wire to connect to for lights, you can connect to the same ACC fuse as earlier, and the light on your tach will come on when you turn the car on. Good luck

I have a 2001 toyota echo sedan and I installed the sunpro tach with 7 different colors that was 45 and it works great. All the sunpro gauges from my experience work good with the echo. I also have their volt and air/fuel on my a pillar and it is awesome.

Hey man thanks a lot. I just have two questions, where is the OBDII and how hard is it to get to? And how do you wire a wire to a fuse? Thanks again

The ObdII is on the drivers side at the bottom the dash, below your fuse box, mine is a white and mounted on the front edge of the bottom of dash, easy to get to, and easy to see if you look under your dash. it is set up to recieve a 16 pin computer connection this plug reads your cars computer. The plug has two rows of 8 pins. The first pin on the bottom row is for the tach. I used a horseshoe like connector and pinched the horseshoe together and slipped one prong of the horseshoe into that first pin on the bottom row. This isn't a professional install, but it works for me. I didn't want to cut into any wires so however you get it to plug in and stay should be fine. To connect to the fuse, run your wires behind the dash and pull your ACC fuse. Take that red wire and strip about a half inch of bare wire, twist end a little so you dont have any strays sticking out. Stick wire into left hole where ACC fuse goes, then stick ACC fuse in to hold wire in place. Electricity travels from the right side of the fuse to the left side, the left side is important so that the fuse does it's job and protects your car. I hope this helps. I love having a Tach. it makes all the difference.

Why not just get a scangauge II which has a tach function built into it. Plus, you get alot of other gauges for the car. Plugs into OBD port. scangauge.com I have the older version, but the new one is alot slimmer and looks cooler.

I have a Scanguage II which is nice but the read out is small. Kinda wish I had a bigger tach read out but otherwise pretty nice device.

check your fuses, if you didnt cut any wires, it is in your fuses.
