Canada Protruding hubcaps-repair or replace?

My Echo's hubcaps stick out beyond the tire walls so that if I accidentally hit a curb, the hubcap gets scratched which is not pleasant to look at. I've been looking around and think this is just thoughtless design by Toyota. Question, can the scratches be fixed or does anyone know of hubcaps that will not protrude? Thanks...!

Get a set of alloys and that'll solve your problem

You could sand them down and repaint them, or just buy a replacement set. If it's an Echo Hatch, many owners have upgraded to alloys, so you may be able to get a replacement set cheaper than the dealer cost. Best place to look is Echofans.org , all of us Echo owners are over there...Put a post in the wanted/for sale section...

I would replace them or look into getting some alloy rims.
