I own a '92 Previa and an '89 Van. Overall the Previa is a better van because of improvements in safety and comfort. Still the original van is just as luxurious and personally I think that if you compare a fully optioned LE Van vs. LE Previa, the LE Van is much plusher. New Echo Owner's opinion on the Sienna is half true. The Sienna definitely had more power and safety features being that it's newer, but the reliability isn't as good. It's still better than other newer vans but the old Van and Previa are more reliable. The biggest weakness on the old Van is the alternator- or rather its location. It's susceptible to road debris, that can cause it to fail. Other than that, the Van is better for hauling stuff while the Prev is more suited for people. Still both can do both chores very well.
