I don't want to do it permanently, but 2-3 mins is a ridiculously short amount of time for it to auto-reset to off.
I travel a lot and it is not uncommon to get stuck behind semi-trucks dumping serious exhaust fumes for extended periods of time. As soon as I'm able to pass the offender, I generally open all my windows and blow as much "fresh" air in as possible. Keep in mind that just because you can't smell or see the exhaust fumes normally, you are basically traveling in a tunnel of CO, NOx and NMHC's whenever you are traveling on a busy highway, it's hardly "fresh" air.
Thanks for the 5 second tip, I'll try it next time I am driving it, as today the wife took it to work and I have her car.
