If you're referring to the Neo Prolink unit, I'm not sure how it works internally. Externally, it plugs into the back of the stock headunit via the cd-changer port. It doesn't lock out your iPod or iPhone so you can control it from that or you can control it from the factory radio buttons (volume, change track, mute) if your car has them. I got tired of carrying the aftermarket headunit faceplate with me in previous cars so no one would steal it so I opted for this so I could keep my stock radio and use my iPhone for music. I got mine at www.mp3yourcar.com but you can find it cheaper elsewhere.
