My 09 XLE with dual-zone AC also has this feature that I'd rather not have - it resets to outside air in cold mornings. Doesn't do that at all in warmer days. I've tried to hold the recirc button for several seconds but it doesn't work. After driving the car for about 20 minutes with a warmer cabin (outside temp around 28 degrees F), this feature went away. I think Toyota designed this feature to prevent inside moisture/fog on the windshield but I prefer to have total manual control to avoid exhaust from other vehicles. Does anyone have a better idea - does the 5-second hold depend on which air mode (foot area, upper area vent...) is on? I really would like to be able to override the default setting.
