Gen1 3.0 rebuild

I have just bought a 88 Runner with the 3.o v6 and am in the process of pulling the engine and rebuilding it. I could use some feedback on any tips from someone who has more experience in the 3.0. I also have a 89 Runner with the 22RE that I rebuilt sucessfully and have had no issues with it. Can I pull the engine by its self or should I pull the trans with it? Any feedback about eliminating the defects that this engine is famous for would be greatly appreceaited. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am located in Oregon.

It happens that the best place to get parts to rebuild your 3.0 is also in Oregon.
Check out engnbldr.com
There's no need to pull the trans ad t-case along with the engine.

honestly i think you should get the 3.4/ way better. but the 3.0 is reiable but its only pumpin 150 horse power which i think sucks especially when you want to get up to speed. My 3.0 for my 93 was rebuilt and i wish the person before me who did this would of just spent the money on the 3.4 that has i think 185-190 horse power.
