84 4runner

My friend is selling a 84 4runner with a buick 6 cyl in it. Just seen it, never drove it or heard it run.It has a minor lift with dual shocks at 4 corners. Not sure if any lockers or limited slips. Rust is very minor. How much would you pay for it?

What I or anyone here would pay for it isn't important. What's it worth to you if you really want it?
And asking us, when you don't know all that much about it, isn't going to help much.

ya i agree how bad you want it? but before id do anything id go through the engine swap with a fine tooth comb, its not hard to get an engine to run in a vehicle but it can be difficult to get it to run correctly, if it doesnt look 100% professional it probably isnt. even if it looks fine it still may be rigged...even if its your friend that is selling it doesnt mean you wont get screwed over, my friend had a jeep he wanted to sell to a family member of mine and said "its not like you dont know where it came from, i wouldnt screw you over" but him not being the most mechanically inclined person didnt realize all the things that were wrong with it, he didnt want to screw my family over he just didnt realize it and was over confident in his abilities

Thanks guys. This past weekend i got to drive it. The Buick sounds so quite, although it had headers and looks easy to work on since its carburated. The swap was done in a shop, using the buick bellhousing mated to the Toyota tranny. It has a 3 inch lift with springs and shims, no blocks. Open diffs. He'll give it to me for 3400 but im still contemplating since my bros in-law will be giving me his 89 Ford Bronco which has a crate V8, just will be sucking more gas. Gas on Moloka'i is roughly 4.50 a gallon... I guess 3400 is a good price since theres hardly rust and runs good... The only draw back i'm thinking about is the motor if something happens...

Is the dillema between the 84 Toyota and an 89 Bronco; and would the Bronco be for FREE? Is the Bronco carbed, or is it fuel injected?

Unless you're real handy with the blue ovals, I would stay the hell away from the Bronco. Twin I-beam front susp, coupled with late 80's fuel injection by Ford = pure crap in my opinion. I wouldn't want it at any price over a couple hundred -- and that would only be to resell it... just my opinion.

yeap the Ford is free, and yes a 89 with a stock crate motor, fuel injected.... Needs some body work before the rust gets worse.. As for the 4Runner, it was bought second hand and it was a mainland truck which was shipped to Hawaii..... Decisions.. The only draw back on the 4Runner not sure about the Buick V6. Thanks for your honest opinion, I appreciate it.
