Gen1 3.0 oil leak

I just rebuilt my 88 3.0 and it runs great. I did have an oil leak from where I thought was the rear passenger side cam cap. I took it all back down to the cap and resealed the cap with the seal packing that I got from the Toyota dealership. It t work sort of, it still leaks but not to the degree that it did before. It is such an area it is hard to see where it is actually coming from.

Are you refering to the valve cover gaskets? If so, I know that not following the factory torque specs can cause leakage. I believe they only take 48 inch pounds for each bolt (11 on each side). I've read about alot of cases where people had leaks after changing the gaskets because of over tightening the bolts. Next time you feel like removing the valve covers, buy a new gasket and follow the Toyota Factory Service specs. Just google for "Toyota FSM". I'm sure that will fix most of your oil leak. I did this to my '95 and I'm glad I did.
