Gen1 wont stay running

I have a 89 Runner that I took wheeling and things got wet, I let it set for a couple months now it will start but wont stay running. I replaced the fuel filter and there was no water in it, I have good fuel pressure. It will start right back after it dies but it sounds like I am running out of fuel since it will run for 8-10 seconds. I cant find any thing on trouble shooting this problem. I dont know the throttle position sending unit problems since this has never happened to me. This is a 22RE. Any help would be awesome, Thanks

When the engine dies check and see if the fuel pump is still running. You might have to go under the rig to hear it in the fuel tank or take the back seat bottom out and try to hear it from there. You can also shortpins in your diagnostic port in the engine compt. I think it would be FP to E1 that should turn on the pump and see if it will run more that 8 seconds. It could also be the circuit opening relay that may be at fault. That relay controls the fuel pump on and off.
