Unhappy tranny leak??

hey everyone just as the title says i have a tranny leak but its not from any place i've seen one leak from before. i recently installed a newer tranny in my 89 4runner from a 92 both were 5spd and i checked around before installing it to make sure it would work on mine since they were both off of the same style v6 engine. well it was working great till just the other day when i noticed a pool of gear oil under it so i changed my front flange seal on the tcase thinking that was it and found it was still spitting oil later that day so i removed the shifter covers in the cab and noticed it was coming out of one of the breather plugs on top(the things with the silver cap). i removed all the silver caps to make sure they weren't blocked and found nothing , so i looked at my old tranny and found that this breather plug goes into the empty space between the tcase and tranny can i just block this one or does anyone know how i can fix this leak? oh yeah and it doesn't just leak a little it keeps spitting the gear oil from the top till its pretty much all gone

i forgot to mention that the only difference between my old tranny and this one is the old one didnt have this breather plug. the old one had 1 in front of the shifter and 1 behind the shifter between the trans and tcase the new one has both of those and one more the one that is leaking on this one is to the left of the shifter thats why i didnt know if i could just block it off so it would leak any more since my older trans didnt have it,
thanks for any input
oh and this is where you can find a couple pics of what im talking about i dont know how to add pics on here

ive circled on the pics of the old tranny where the new breather plugs are and where they lead on the inside of the tranny

OK, your 89 had an R150F-A and the 92 is an R150F-B. That explains the vent differences.
But that doesn't explain your problem. Since it was OK at first, I'm thinking some thing has gone wrong that has caused internal pressure to build up, causing the gear oil to be forced out.
Next question is if it's coming from the trans or the t-case. Have you checked the level in each ??

oh ok well thats good to know about the 2 different tranys thanks>
and yes i checked the levels right when i got home from work and its only coming from the transmission it acutally spit out most of the gear oil in just 2 or 3 days. i refilled it and took it for a drive just to see if it was because it was over fill but after about 5 miles of driving it started leaking again so i have parked it till i can figure out what it is, i didnt know if maybe it was the input seal on the back of the tranny where the tcase goes into it or not was gonna look at that this weekend. (the seal that is in there now is brand new i put it on when installing the tranny) and yeah it is weird beacuse it worked great for bout a month and then this all happened.

thanks for any info!

oh yeah and its the original tcase from my truck i just swapped the trannys, the reason i swapped the trannys is beacause i bought the truck with out 3rd and 4th gear working in it

Talking

ok so i decided to remove the tcase the other day and with no one there to help me and by just working on the ground at my apartments the dang thing fell on my arm lol. I'll never do that again. Anyways i found out that the seal that autozone sold me that goes in the tcase adapter housing was the wrong one the outer size was right but the inner was slighty bigger then what i needed and was allowing the tranny gear oil to leak into the cavity between the tranny and tcase and was building up pressure do to lack of oil in tranny and forcing it out the top. i went to napa and told them my issue and they got me the right seal ! the leak is gone and runner is running great now thanks for the info on the 2 different types of r150f trannys though it was very handy!
