87 new clutch problems PLEASE HELP

Hey guys im new to this fourm ive been reading and looking around quite a bit and im having some trouble find the answer to my problem.

So i have an 87 4runner i just swapped a cherry 22re into and put on a new clutch and flywheel. i wnet to start it up and the clutch was slipping and very good. then i it hit me i forgot to clean all the parts with brake cleaner...

So i pulled out the tranny this time and took off the clutch sanded down the flywheel and cleaned all the parts with brake cleaner and installed using gloves.

then i also thought i would change out the master clutch cylinder and a new slave. bleed the whole system and went for a test drive i could kind of smell the clutch burnin a little and it would grab up to 3000 rpms then if i went anymore then that it would just slip. i have no idea what the problem can be im soo stump the tranny shifts very smooth and the 22re only has about 70k on it and very strong.

please help im at such a loss after so much work.

Thank you in advance

4runnerchase,

The only thing I can think of is maybe that your fllywheel might be less than min tickness and even with a new clutch it might be too thin to grab right under high rpm's. But...... if you put a new flywheel in then it just might be a matter of missmatched parts that won't work on a Toyota.

do you have the correct freeplay on the clutch pedal?

where in the pedal travel does the clutch grab? at what point is the truck driving?
and this was a new flywheel correct?
