The good...It runs and drives, 4" lift, good rubber, smitty bumpers, KC lights & bar, new clutch & rebuilt trans, mild cam, header, extra top.
The bad...Rhino lined body, interior is shot, out of alignment, windshield molding is missing, vent controls are frozen, wires spliced everywhere, sat for 5 years.
Whats this 1st gen worth?
These are my other 1st gen projects that went well..
If it doesn't have the frame rust problem that's typical of the 80's trucks (and in TX you may not have that issue), and if it runs and drives good, $1200-1500 would be reasonable.
But used vehicle prices vary greatly across the US. For example, in the Pacific northwest area, it could go for twice that.
The lift, lights, bumper, etc are nice, but don't add much to the value.
The key factor for me would be the frame rust. A big problem in the east and central parts of the US (but no problem at all in the southwest). I went over every square inch of the frame when buying my 84 and 89. I was very lucky and the frames were in very good shape.

Thanks for the info sir, and the frame is in pretty good shape. The rest of the rig has been beat on. The wiring is what has me scratching my head.
Speaker wire ran to the roof lights are a dead giveaway, and the quick wire connects didnt help.
I paid 1500, and an extra 100 to get it home. 109 for the battery, wipers, and some fuel.
Runs smoothe when it first starts, but when it kicks down it has a miss.
Fuel filter, denso plugs, radiator, heat shrink butt connectors, alignment are the first things.
I just bought an 86 that needed some work for 500.00 139k miles. I live in south fla and there is no frame rust, probably due to the massive front seal leak. I had to put a battery a vane air meter and 2 tie rod ends to get it home. it was nasty, but after de greasing and replacing front seal it runs good. just spent 900 on 33/12.50 used wheels and new 4/5 inch lift kit. I think i got a great deal
well it has some minor rust above the rear wheel wheels but only smaller than dime size. my plan for that is clean out the rust hose it with ospho and fill it. they dont rust here unless you live right on the beaches of the east coast. or use it for pool cleaning service.
