I cut off my stock muffler and installed a performance glass pack cherry bomb muffler. My findings with the glass pack is that it gives the car a beefier deep tone to it. It does not make the car too loud. yes it is louder but is reasonable. They are also remarklibly cheap mine 24"long 2" in and outlet was $15.00.
Down side- illegal in large cities. and Popo eye catching tourch red.
