A 3S-GTE engine (Celica All-Trac/MR2 turbo) is probably the easiest fit. I would say it is easier to do that than a 1MZ-FE/3VZ-FE even. I assume by mid-90's you mean something in the range of 92-96. That is the gen 3 Camry and there are already a few that have done that swap. While you are at it you could get a 5-spd tranny swap as well. That would make your car quite the little sleeper beast!
