Canada 1992 --->1990 3VZE 4 runner

Hey peeps,
I am a new member, and I know how frustrating it is for newbiews to ask for help. I "was" a ford fan and recently purchased my first toyota. I have done alot of research, but obviously not enough. I have a 1992 4-runner project I just purchased. Excellent body, excellent topend, very nasty knocking bottom end. I thought i was doing the right thing and bought a decent 1990 3VZE donor with new heads, timing belt, water pump, etc etc. After looking, I noticed the b lock behind intake was different as well as rad hose outlwt on front. My 1992 has single rad hose connection front engine to rad , donor has a 2 hoses connection. Also, rear sensor block from donor and exisisting are different. Is it easy enough to transfer parts and ECU or am I looking at a lot of work?

Thanks,
New to yodas

bigrod00,

I would transfer everything that came with your original engine. Make it look the same as original. That way all wiring will hook up and function properly. Also you might need a new radiator to match the new engine. The 3VZE came in other applications. So what ever you have on the 3VZE that is in your rig now needs to be there after the swap. Take many photos so you can do it right. I believe the ECU should work fine as long as you have the exact same hookups. Also if you have the money get rid of the crossover exhaust pipe at the rear of the engine and put a set of headers on it to eliminate the heat that is produced by the crossover.
Oh by the way welcome to TN

If you're going through the trouble of pulling the motor, I'd do as jetwhine suggested. Swap it all, given that the two trucks are idenical with features (ie. AC, cruise, etc.)

engine swap went awesome. Changed over parts from existing to donor engine to match wiring. All works great. Thanks for input.
