Schmidt,

You might want to take a look at the front drive line. If it has not been used in a long time chances are the u joints are dry and in need of lube or maybe a replacement of the joints. Just a side note: You might want to do a full lube job at this time. When trying to go into 4low you might want to just get it rolling then coast and try to engage it.

There should be be 3 zerk fittings for the 3 u-joints in the front axle, the 2 in the CV joint require a needle adapter for the grease gun to get to them. you might have one for the slip joint as well.

schmit,

The drive line in the front has u joints on both ends of the driveshaft. They have grease fittings on them known as zerk fittings. These fittings take grease from a grease gun. Grease them until you see grease ooz from the u joint. You also have what is called by toyota a propeller shaft. It is a slip joint drive shaft. The design is for taking the load off of the drive shaft when coming to a stop and when taking off from a stop which moves in and out(in for stopping and out for taking off from a stop). The shaft has a zerk fitting where the two shafts slide into one another. Grease it intil you start to see the shaft move to expand. That sould be enough. The ball joints on the steering knuckle has zerk fittings on it to lube also they are hard to see whitout taking off the wheel. Hope this helps.

so i feel pretty stupid.......i went to a transmition place to get the vibration looked at, so i didnt know u had to pull the 4x4 shifter towards u to put it into 4low hahahahaha annnnd it turned out that the guy that had the truck befor me put 2 different sized tires on the front one was a 75 and one was a 50 so thats what was making the vibration so i feel pretty dumb i got new wheels and tires and everything works great, on the good side i got it for 1800$ ccuz the guy thought there was big problems with it hahahahhahaha he wanted 4000$ so i got a pretty good deal eh....truck looks brand new
