Sad Horn

If I recall correctly the horn is mounted in the engine compartment, on the drivers side bolted to the firewall. I was wondering if changing the horn is as easy as swapping it out wil a different one; cause let's face it. Those Jap horns are pretty sad sounding. If I blare my horn I barely get a glance.

Not sure if it's just my truck, but my horn just sucks. How hard is it to get a louder horn?

You could pop the hood and look.
The horns on most Japanese cars are very weak. I had to replace the horns on all my Toyotas, my Maxima, and my Trooper with real horns.
You can get new horns at your local auto parts store, but the physical mounting may not be exactly the same.

Cool, good to know. I will take a peek, it would probably be cheaper to buy a horn from a junk yard then to buy one from Napa or something.

Assuming the wiring is also just snip and rewire, horns only have one wire don't they?

Most modern horns have 2 wires. I have replaced all the horns in all my cars (all Japanese), with horns I pulled from PicknPull. I used horns from 80's Ford pickups or vans.

Japanese vehicles use a 2 wire system. American vehicles used to use a one wire setup where the ground was made via a physical connection to the body. Don't know about current American vehicles, don't/wouldn't have one.

Around here salvage yards are ridiculous. A new one from a parts store would be cheaper.
