Looking at a 1995 4runner...

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/2185548106.html

look like a good deal? new to the used toyota game, not sure what really constitutes a good deal, also made a few bad decisions with used trucks in the past... so does that look like a good deal? and problem areas i should be aware of?

i tried posting this once, didnt show up, sorry if it double posts.

Actually, for Oregon that seems almost too good a deal.
The 3.0 is known for head gasket issues, so if it's they've been competently replaced, that's kind of a good thing.
Check it over thoroughly.

TJunky,

That is about the going price for that year out here in the Great North West. I would check him on the receipts. Maybe even do a car fax to protect yourself. The only thing that bothers me is gasket not gaskets. To go that far and only do one bank throws a red flag at me. Also with the big wheels gas millage will be compromised. Maybe that is not as issue with you though. It looks straight but you know how the pictures sometimes don't show the details. It is a must go look at. Good luck.

grandpapa,

Right now people are selling their rigs because of gas millage. The runners of this era are averaging about 17-21mpg.
The deals start popping up. That is a good price. The main thing at this point is the timing belt. If it has not been done, it will in the near future. If you have someone do it for you it will run between $500-$900. Keep that in mind on the price. They also have head gasket problems. If it has been maintained properly and not abused it should be ok. Also there was a Toyota recall on the head gaskets. If that has been done then there should not be any problems anytime soon. Good Luck.
