Rap around Exhaust

Hello all,

Got a question. I was going to put headers on my 92 4 runner 3.0 since I had rebuild the engine with dull exhaust but Im concern about the wires that run down the right side / passenger. So I'm thinking about buying the regular exhaust that came with the truck the one that rapped around the back of the block. HERES MY QUESTION:

will the rap around exhaust still drop down in to place after the engine, heads and valve covers are attached?

Thanks
Gary

hastings900,

If you are concerned with the wires you can wrap them with heat sheilding, but if you can avoid the wrap around and put the headers on you will be much further ahead than using the wrap around. The wrap around contributes to the head gasket problem.

returned the headers

Yeah that was the reason for the headers to keep the heat off the heads. after lookig at the wires on the passenerger side I didnt want there to be any new issues. So i returned my headers. So now I am looking at the old rap around exhaust and wondering befor I have to buy another is it going to fit without having to take the heads off again just to put it on. If anyone out there has the answer please help.

Thanks

hastings900,

Hook it onto the heads loosly and then put the heads on. You may need help with it but I think that will work the best for you.

hastings900,

If you can't snake it in you might have too. I still would not waste my time with it though.

hastings900,

Thats good that you where able to snake it in. Even though you did not put headers on the new gasket will still last awhile.
