alex1972,

Try jumping the B+ and FP sockets in the diagnostic box just behind the fuse box in the engine compartment on the passenger side of engine on the wheel well and try and start the rig. This will bypass the circuit opening relay and the switch in the AFM.

Ive got power to starter now but still no fuel pump coming on. There was some kind of after market theft system hooked to the starter wire just bypassed it and it turns over thanks for the help Alex

Hi,

I'm having a similar problem, though I have no aftermarket theft system installed.

turning the key to on, does not power up the fuel pump,

jumpering the B+ and FP works, the pump runs,

I've tried starting the truck with the Fuel pump jumpered, however the truck will not turn over.

it acts as though no fuel is getting to the cylinders.

where do i start looking?
what tests can I do to find out what's wrong?

thanks

Jimmy

OK with this scenario you might have a bad circuit opening relay or a bad vafm (volume air flow meter) switch. You can try to jump the FC wire at the vafm to ground and see if the fuel pump comes on with key on. If it does then you will have to fix the vafm or change it. If it does not come on then you have a bad circuit opening relay. It can be fixed if you can determine wiitch capacitor is bad.
I would also disconnect the fuel line forward of the fuel filter and see if you are getting fuel out of the fuel filter. IF not then disconnect the line behind the fuel filter and see if you get fuel. But you need to determine if the pump is actually pumping fuel when running. That would be the first coarse of action.
