parking brake, and drl stopped working

I have a 93 toyota pickup, and last week noticed a dimmer switch device lying on my floor mat drivers side. Coincidentally at the same time p/brake light came on and drl went off.
I checked and topped up the fluid past max, and no difference. The piece I found was tapered on one end(like a switch) and round on the other no more than and inch long. Does anyone know where this goes. My book doesnt tell me too much. Its just annoying more than anything.
Thanks

That little switch should be at the other end of the parking brake. When the parking brake is pulled it releases the switch and turns on the parking brake light. When the brake is in, it depresses the switch to turn the light off. It's pretty awkwRd getting to the spot it's normally mounted to, so you may wNt to consider pulling the drivers seat out before attempting any repairs on it.
