Trouble after replacing head gaskets

Hello all,

I replaced the head gaskets. drained oil replaced oil. Did compression test on it before starting. all 6 range about 175. Didn't add coolant yet. replaced all fuel injectors and all plug. I just wanted to make sure it would start. so I started it up and I have white smoke. truck sat for about 8 months or so. It ran about 3 min no more, gave it a little gas and more white smoke. I did exactly what the Toyota mechanics told me to do. They even printed out a step by step procedure for me. I have spent a lot of money on this truck. So now what. Any ideas.:hea dbang::hea dbang::hea dbang: did i mention

Thanks,
Gary

hastings900,
That sounds like vapor too me since you did not have any coolant in the motor it would not be water. I would think that is just the normal warm up moisture from combustion. I would add coolant and run the motor until warm and see if the moisture goes away. I think it will.
Just curious why did you start and run for 3 minutes without coolant? I would think that you would want to take all precautions to protect your investment with $30 worth of coolant? I'm not trying to be funny but that is not something I would do even if I did have a problem I would run it as normal first.

The reason i started it is because if I had the timing belt wrong then i would have to take the front cover off and that means extra work. and you cant just pull the cover off because I have the water hose to the top of the radiator in my way. I did ask another person I know if it would do any harm he said no. So I thought just kick it over run it and turn it off. But now after reinstalling all the parts now she wont start at all. So I'm thinking what I did that was so different. Cant think of anything. Plus I cant remember if I mentioned this or not but it ran rough like it was out of time or a spark plug is damaged or one of the new fuel injector are not working.

Any Ideas.

Thanks

hastings900,

Now it is back to the basics. 1)Check for spark, 2) Check to see if the fuel pump comes on with the key in the on position. 3) If not, then short FP and B+ at the diagnostics box and with the key on see if the fuel pump is on, if not then troubleshoot why not. 4) If all that checks out then recheck the timings marks to make sure they are on, and with it at TDC make sure that the distributor points to the #1 firing position.
I think this will help you get going in the right direction.

I have no spark from the coil. checked all fuses didn't check relays but i did switch the EFI relay out with another one to see if that was the problem. that didnt check make a difference. Dont have a volt meter as of right now so I cant check the coil. I'm thinking about taking it down to Toyota and have them test it.

thanks
