Re-installing my timing belt idler pulley and my tape marks won't line up

I've got a '93 V6 and I'm putting my engine back together after replacing the knock sensor and I put tape marks on my timing belt, gears, and back plate. The marks on the driver's side all line up but the passenger side don't (the tape on the belt and gear are good but they don't line up with the back plate. I put a ratchet on the nut on the gear and tried to move it into place but it stops and won't go any further when the marks are about a 1/2" off. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

impendingdoom229,

I would not worry about the belt as long as it is close. The main thing you should be concerned with is the timing marks, just make sure they are aligned and the belt does not have any slop in it. Oh and as long as the belt is spinning the say way, Did you put an arrow on it for direction of rotation?
