3.0 vze Running super rich

I just completed a head job on my '95 3.0 and I replaced all 6 injectors and the O2 sensor during the project. It started up fine, but is running super rich, to the point it is running like crap and for sure won't pass emission inspection. I checked all my vacum lines to amke sure I had everything right and tried a different mass air flow sensor. Any other ideas?

kparker,

When you start your motor pull the start injector out and see if it is squirting out any additional fuel after motor start. If it is then you will need to trouble shoot that system. That would be my first step in trouble shooting.

How rich is it running , does it have drivability problems ( missing, smoking/fouled plugs), or does it drive fine and the exhaust just smells rich? Check your cold start injector and timer,ECT sensor, fuel pressure regulator.

Yeah I have some kind of problem. Just did a complete top end with new injectors and injector wires. my 4runner also misses but I got one up on you. Do you have gas dripping out of your muffler and blowing out of the exhaust. I've tried to figure this out for awhile now. My toyota spits out about 1/2 of fuel within about a 60 second time period. I gave up trying to figure it out. It is now sitting at toyota. I have a jar of Vaseline im going to take with me when I get the bill. Just talked to them this morning they have no idea what the problem is and they got like 4 hours invested @ 92.50 an hour. that was this morning. Its been 8 hours later now. I think I need to get a bigger jar of Vaseline.
If i get an answer i'll let you all know.

Thanks
Gary

Hello just got the word from toyota They say the reason is because of sticky valves. #4 5 6. Thats why i get the rich code and the gas running down the exhaust. Any idea how to get sticky valves unsticky. I just rebuilt the heads. so I ont understand how they could be stciking. I hope this helps.
Thanks

Hastings900,

Wow thats not good. That means the guides were not reammed rigtht. I think I would take that up with the machine shop that reconditioned the heads. Maybe it is not guides maybe they put the wrrong size valves in by mistake. Not sure which would be appropriate but would first think guides not properly sized to the new valves. That would explain the rough running. Not sure of an easy fix, the only thing I can think of and you probably don't want to hear is that you would have to remove the heads and get them done right. Hope this helps.
