Transmission

I have a 95 4runner v6,4wd,automatic.When the transmission is cold it shifts late into overdrive. It takes awhile to kick in,After it warms up it shifts great. Is that normal?

atch,

That shift sequence is based off of engine temp. If your engine coolant thermestat is stuck in an open position it will take longer for the engine to warm up and thus a longer time before it will allow it to shift into overdrive.

Yes it is normal not to shift into OD until the engine is warm.
Whether or not yours is taking longer than normal is hard to say.
If you have a stuck t-stat as jetwine suggests (or low on coolant) it could take longer than normal.
