Canada 1990 Manual Transmission Issues

Hi,

I am pretty sure I know exactly what the problem is, but I'll explain what is happening and how it was caused!

Awhile back I was having issues changing gears, it was as if certain gears were no longer there (ie: shifting from 2nd to 3rd) I bled the slave cylinder and that seemed to fix the issue, for awhile.

It happened again, and I was stuck in a parking lot, trying to reverse but it would not go into gear, I was being rammy with it and eventually got it back home. I discovered there was a broken hydraulic hose going into the slave so I fixed that and I ended up replacing both the clutch master, and slave.

After I replaced those, I immediately took it out for a test drive around the block, I had 1st, 2nd, no 3rd -5th gears, and when trying to reverse, it goes into gear, but the truck moves forward. If I leave it in the neutral position and release the clutch it starts to move forward.

I talked to a few friends, and everyone seems to believe that I bent the shifting forks inside the trans.

What are your thoughts? Could I replace just the forks, or would I need a whole new transmission, if so can I only use something out 1990-1995?

Try replacing the shift lever seat. It wears out and deteriorates with age, making for sloppy, difficult shifting.
Search the forums and you'll find plenty of info.
