1990 4runner oil in coolant?!

I just found a super clean 1990 v6 2 door 4runner for $800 the thing is there is a lot of oil in the coolant. Hardley any in oil resivior. I am thinking it is a head gasket but isn't it usually coolant in oil? I've also seen some things about the oil cooler leaking? guy said it needs a oil pressure sensor also if that matters. Hopeing its not cracked he said it has been recently rebuilt also. I'm going to be tearing it down anyway just trying to see if anyone has had any problems like this so I know what to look for. Any info would be great. Thanks, Ross

Early 4Runners with the 3.0L engine had head gasket problems. It seems highly unlikely to me that it's been recently repaired. You could be correct about the block being cracked though. I'd run away as far as possible from this thing if I were you. LOL. Good luck with everything though.

Yeh the 3.0 is notorious for blown head gaskets. You could have a whole can of worms there , if the engine has been run for a while in that condition. IF it is as clean as you say and IF you can do the work yourself, I would pay that much for it. Just be prepared to rebuild/ replace the engine if necessary. If you can just get away with doing the head gaskets , don't use after market parts( only toyota) , a lot of the head gaskets out there ( even name brand) are crap and it will end up blowing a gasket right away again. If you rebuild the engine have the heads AND block resurfaced and try to find MLS gaskets if you can( they hold up much better to shearing action you get with aluminum heads on cast iron block).

I'd buy it. It sounds like it's worth that in parts.
