I have a second generation 4-runner that I use for hunting. I have been doing a lot of work to it lately. It came without the roof rack. I want to put some sort of platform to stand on over the back portion. I want it to look good as well as (and most importantly) be functional. The route I was planning on taking was to build an exo cage style frame coming from below the rear door and coming up behind it to the roof, with another support coming from the corner, and some others in there for strength. I was going to build it out of DOM but it is so expensive that I don't think I can afford it. Is there something else I can build it out of? I actually use my truck so there is a chance of a tree impact or two. What can I use that will have enough strength but not break the bank.

HREW is a less expensive alternative to DOM.
