Transmission Swap

Hi;

I have a 95 4Runner 2WD with a bad automatic transmission. Will a automatic trans out of a 95 4 Runner w/ 4WD work? I am hoping they are the same minus the transfer case. I already have the 4wd transmission so I am hoping I can make it work.

i have never done this and there is probably someone who know more about it than me but, if the enginges where the same it should have no problem bolting up to it, that being said. on that particular trans you can't just take off the transfer case and it will be the same as the other. if you wanted to do this you would have to first take the transfercase shifter out and fabricate something to seal up the hole, then get a new drive shaft bc you other one will not be the same length.

1. do both vehicles have the same engine? if not, no way (and which engine?)
2. you just can't remove the t-case and connect the drive shaft, or even swap over the 2wd's tail section.

If you have the 4wd trans/t-case and drive shaft, and some ingenuity, you could swap the whole thing in.
You could have a 2wd truck with a low range
