I agreed, upon driving my 205,000 mile + '90 4Runner with the 3.0 automatic, that it was rather a pig in the acceleration department. Heck just about any department.
I set about to fix this.
The po had not really taken care of the exhaust system, so some replacement/upgrade was long overdue. Working back from the block, I changed out the exhaust gaskets, catalytic converter, muffler and tail pipe. It was AMAZING what the new cat did alone for improvement. I highly recommend this if your truck has over 200k+ miles.
Combined with some new Michelin LTX M/S 31" tires, a K&N cold air intake, some Seafoam, a basic tune-up on the engine and I've got a truck that can turn a tire at the stop light, accelerate up a hill and generally is really fun to drive.
So here's the the continually slammed 3.slow. I celebrate you!
