Prefered tire size

The two recommended widths my 1995 sr5 4x4 are 225 and 10.5.

I currently run the 10.5 width.
What advantages would I find with the narrower 225 width?

I will be getting all terrain tires in either size. Thanks for the input.

A wider tire means better traction.
But that bigger contact patch on the highway can affect mpg a bit, there's always a trade off.

Are you talking 225/75R-15 vs 31-10.50/15? Thats a major difference in size.
