Please help me ID this power steering part...

Hey guys, haven't logged on in a while, and this is not my vehicle. It's a 3.0 powered 4runner and a buddy wanted me to install a power steering pump because it was 'leaking'. Apon looking, this is all I found. It has a crack and I watched it seep fluid as the wheel was turned. Its some kinda doohickie that appears to connect 2 return lines into 1 back into the pump (I actually don't know a ton about power steering systems as all of my 2wd 22r powered pickups have had manual racks. ) Please help me figure out what this is and how might I be able to aquire one to make this a much cheaper fix for my un-wealthy freind.

The top part is the pump, and the 2 return lines are obvious... the black thing in the middle with the yellow paint blob is the part in question. Thanks guys!

-Sam

That's the vacuum valve for the Progressive Power Steering.
The PPS increases the idle rpms when the PS system is being strained at idle rpms, like when you have the wheel at full lock when maneuvering for parking, or offroading.

I dont currently have the vehicle with me to look at. So is there actually PS fluid that goes thru this? Does it make sense that part itself could almost be a hundred dollars? http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?...cid=tpbfroogle

Hey so, I have seen guys on various sites that talked about just removing the peice, capping off the vacuum lines and putting a plug in the pump. Anyone know what thread size and all plug i would need to cap off the pump?
